3.6L SIDI V6 (LLT) Engine

The VE Commodore 3.6L SIDI V6 (LLT) – A Harmonious Blend of Power and Efficiency

Holden’s VE Commodore, a favorite among Australian drivers, is well-known for its powerful engine options. One standout choice is the 3.6 litre SIDI (Spark Ignition Direct Injection) V6 LLT engine, a member of GM’s High Feature engine family.

Introduced with the MY10 Holden Commodore, this engine is an epitome of power, efficiency, and advanced engineering. It offers a market-leading balance of good specific output, high torque over a broad rpm band, fuel economy, low emissions, and first-rate noise.

The engine, paired with a 6-speed Aisin AY6 manual transmission, delivers 210 kW (282 hp) of power and 350 Nm (258 lbf⋅ft) of torque. The result is a robust performance that does not compromise on fuel efficiency. In fact, the engine’s fuel consumption rate is 10.2 L/100 km (23.1 mpg‑US) for the 2009–2010 models.

The 3.6 litre SIDI V6 LLT engine employs advanced technologies to achieve its impressive performance. The Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) system ensures precise fuel delivery, contributing to enhanced performance and fuel economy. Furthermore, the dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) design and variable valve timing (VVT) optimize power delivery across a wide rpm range.

However, as with any engine, the 3.6 litre SIDI V6 LLT is not without its potential issues. Some known problems have been reported, but it’s important to note that these can often be mitigated with regular maintenance and proper care.

For those looking to enhance the performance of their VE Commodore equipped with the 3.6 litre SIDI V6 LLT, there are aftermarket parts and packages available. For instance, the Mace Speed Demon Package aims to improve bottom-end torque and provides an overall boost in performance.

The VE Commodore 3.6 litre SIDI V6 LLT engine is a testament to Holden’s commitment to delivering powerful, efficient, and technologically advanced engines. It offers drivers a blend of power and fuel efficiency that makes for an engaging and economical driving experience.
